My approach & background

I approach my work with an eye toward:

  • Core values

  • Environmental sustainability

  • Racial equity, an area where I’m always learning more. I value matching metrics to historic impacts, discerning my appropriate role in various situations, and being ready to ask difficult questions.

I am an award-winning advocate who:

  • Secured 5+ legal and policy changes at the city and state levels to support sustainability and civic life

  • has substantial experience in navigating City government systems

My experience includes:

  • 12 years as executive director of Baltimore Green Space, including founding the organization

  • 5+ years as co-chair of the Baltimore City Commission on Sustainability

  • 16+ years of academic and trade editing, bringing clarity to complicated topics

As a former nonprofit executive director, I know what it’s like to search for a strategic path that encompasses constituents’ needs and ideas, political feasibility, and your own organization’s well-being. Contact me to discuss how I can help.

Outside of work, I garden at The Harvest Community Garden in Baltimore’s Waverly neighborhood, serve as a lay cantor for a synagogue, and I enjoy reading, cooking, and projects with friends.
